TOP NEWS: Guided By Voices & The Mekons

Very excited about the most recent announcement for the ATP I'll be your mirror line up, a band none other than Guided By Voices will be performing along with Yuck and other fantastic bands on the bill which has not yet been announced. But still though, I'm counting down the days when I get to hear I am a tree performed live. Also pleased to say that I will be going to Rough Trade on Sunday afternoon to see The Mekons perform a free gig mostly compiled from tracks off their new album but I am hoping that they will play this belter of a track too, and will report to you how their new stuff went down.

TOP ALBUMS: Nada Surf's If I had a hifi.

An excellent cover album with some excellent choices, never lives down. They've done a great job of taking original songs and making it their own. Most of the song choices are pretty obscure but as I said before most of them are really well excecuted. I would say the best track on the album is this glorious cover of the famous Go-Betweens song:

It starts off very mellow at the beggining then right in the middle it kicks in with and they have managed to turn it into a fantastic rock anthem, the trumpets at the end of the song are subtle but provide at great epicness to finish off the song. Other highlights include this Kate Bush cover:

This song has a great atmosphere to it which I really love. I highly reccomend you go out and get this album because you will be very surprised with the results.

Welcome

Welcome to Haydn's Top Tunes,
Where a bored teenager living in London writes songs, goes to gigs and listens to music all the time. Here I will post about these gigs and generally talk shit about songs I like.

Hope you enjoy.
